I am Emily Rose Smith; I am a BA Hons qualified and award-winning professional makeup artist and qualified teacher. I have been in the media makeup industry for 8 years. I am currently working as a freelance makeup artist.
I began my makeup journey in 2015 by completing a level 2 in hair and media makeup and progressed all the way up to my BA honours which I completed in 2020 and achieved a First. During my time on these programmes, I competed in many industry competitions. My first competition was the AHT in Blackpool where my unique street art design placed first and inspired me to continue competing. I then went on to win the national AHT competition for face painting in 2016, won 2nd place at the National Makeup Awards hair styling and then body paint and airbrushing, placed first in Warpaint and achieved the accolade of rising star. My biggest achievement to date would be winning gold at the World Skills UK final 2016 and then achieving the highest points a second time around in 2018 for my history themed body paint, as a result I am one of the top body painters in the country.
As a result of my success at World Skills UK, I was chosen for a week-long trip to Japan in October 2017 to take part in an international competition at Yamano Beauty College representing the UK, in being the first European student to take part within the challenge and culminating a celebration of different cultures. as well as sightseeing in Tokyo, visiting Disneyland and attending a Urasenke Tea Ceremony, complete with getting dressed in a traditional kimono. I was then invited to the House of Lords to meet the Duke of Kent, as well as to the parliamentary education ceremony due to my accomplishments. Which was inspirational as it highlighted what education in the makeup sector can do for up-and-coming artists. This then led me on to become a World Skills Media Makeup Champion in partnership with World Skills UK and inspired me to complete my PgCE in teaching, which I completed in 2021.

I possess a high level of makeup artistry skills such as: beauty/occasion makeup, special effects makeup, body art, face painting, airbrushing, prosthetics, tanning, false eyelash application, hair styling, style and fitting postiche and I have practical skills in all areas of media makeup such as drag, camouflage makeup, makeup for film, theatre and more.
My free-lance work includes working with Gary Starr Creative, Code Red Entertainment, Manchester Fashion Week, The London Artist Project, Clock Tower Films and The London Fire Brigade. I have also worked alongside local theatre companies, salons, and The Big Tops.
I have my own public liability insurance for makeup and face/body painting.

· I am available to book for all makeup services, such as beauty/occasion makeup, face painting, body painting, special effects, stage makeup, hair styling and more.
· This may be for the purpose of theatre, film, TV, corporate/special events, and more.
· I am also available for children’s face painting parties and private hires.
· Available for freelance beauty/evening/prom/ bridal/occasion makeup appointments, within the Rotherham/Dinnington/Worksop area.
· Available for makeup/ face/body painting masterclasses and workshops.
